7/5 Chunk em up

We ran out on the Boss Lady today with a charter looking to get some action with tuna. With the offshore action having been slow lately we decided to pound it out on the 30 line. We trolled around all morning with great marks on the sounder and we were in an area where there had been a little bit of a chunking bite so we dropped the anchor and started chunking butterfish. The sounder was lit up with sand eels and tuna marks, it was amazing. We wound up getting our two bluefin tuna plus another over, and we even got a yellowfin tuna. All of our bites were on bait. We will be headed right back again tomorrow to try and get things started early.

7/3 Tilefish Save

I mated again today on the Boss Lady and we ran out the the Wilmington. We put lines in around 6 am in beautiful blue 77 degree water near the squid boats. With the Full Moon the overnight bite has improved while the troll bite has become spotty. We fell victim to that on this trip with no tuna bites and one lazy white marlin that came into our spread and didn’t eat. Bill setup on some of his tilefish numbers where the guys got to all catch their first golden tilefish plus a few. We ended the day with 9 tilefish.
