Today I mated for a 5 hour chunking trip on the “Justified”, a 48′ Ocean Yacht that is part of OverUnder Charters. We pulled out of South Jersey Marina at 8 am and headed out to the DE Bay with plans to chunk for striped bass. We looked around various spots in the lower bay, but we were not marking much at all on the sounder in the 47.5 degree water. After searching for about 20 minutes we decided to set anchor just below the C&B where we had the best marks (although they weren’t much to get excited about) and get some baits in the water for the end of the incoming tide. Action was slow with a few spiny dogfish until the tide swung started going out. We picked at 5 throwbacks on the top of the outgoing all measuring from 24-26.5 inches. Unfortunately we could not get a keeper today. We will see what happens tomorrow.
