Today was our last day with this group, and Ryan, Jeff, Dave, and Greg had been patiently waiting for the billfish, hoping today would be the day it turned on. With more favorable weather today we ran a little further to get started and right away we were into the dolphin again. We ended up keeping a dozen and letting the rest go. Joe and I traded places and we got into a few yellowfin tuna on Columbus Point, but still no billfish. On a down sea tack in the deep, we had a small blue come in for our mullet dredge then fade to the left teaser. We couldn’t get him to switch off, after a few tries and eventually he made his way across the spread to the right short rigger and ate the MoldCraft Wide Range. Dave was on for his first blue marlin ever and got a clean release. Congratulations Dave!! The rest of the afternoon was quiet, but plenty of action all three days with the Mahi.
