Billfish Blast quick report.

We fished the past three days here in Cat fishing in the Billfish Blast and we ended up taking third place. Fishing was tough overall, but we were able to slip into third.
Monday – we had a slow start and an early white marlin bite that took is by surprise so we never got a great shot at it. Then at the end of the day near Columbus we had a triple header of sails. With some bad luck we lost 2/3 and ended up with one sailfish for the day. We were 1/3 boats that caught a billfish on Monday, very tough fishing.
Tuesday – fishing was slow as far as billfish again all day but were were getting plenty of dolphin bites, unfortunately none big enough to take the dolphin Calcutta. We jumped off a sail mid day, then caught 1/2 sails and a longbill spearfish in the last half hour of fishing time.
Wednesday – we got covered up with dolphin early around Devils Point, and Joe stuck it out here and pounded the area all day. We had a double of sails up but only one are and we released it, then a white mid day. We ended up seeing one more sail come in the spread but it never ate. It was just enough to slip into third place.
