We decided to do a shakedown trip on the Fin Addict and go out tuna fishing. The tuna fishing here has been hot and cold, but when it’s on, it’s epic!! Today was not that day. We pounded it out along the natural hundred line from 5 miles above the Baltimore to 3 miles south of the Baltimore. We saw a tailing white early on, but the morning was very slow for us.
The wind came up a bit out of the East, but otherwise it was fairly calm all day. We were in blended blue 70.5 degree water all day, but we just couldn’t get any bites. We tried pitching chunks of ballyhoo on spinning rods to some lobster pot balls to catch some dolphin, and we managed to get 2 small ones. At around 2:30 on the bottom corner of of the Baltimore we finally got our tuna bites and put 2 solid 60 pound yellowfin tuna in the boat to end the day.
