December Stripers

I got back into NJ from the Holiday late Saturday.  Sunday weather didn’t allow us to fish but today we slipped out for a few hours and they fish are still here.  We ran out of GE Inlet on the 27′ Contender and got on the troll in the clear 48 degree water with tons of bait marks.  We started off getting hooked up right away on the chartreuse Mojo but after a few minuted the fish spit the hook – BUMMER.  We had one more bite after that but it didn’t come tight.  The fishing was slow for the next hour then I got a call (thank goodness for good friends) on a hot bite further south, so we sprinted 8 miles south and bam, game on.  We got what we went for and kept a few nice striped bass, including Stacey’s first (Congrats), and also caught our first bluefish of the Fall season.  The weather isn’t looking too great for the next few days, but we hope to slip out again soon.
