After doing the morning radio talk show with “Shep on Fishing” (which was fun by the way), we hurried up and sprinted offshore to the sea bass grounds and got into steady and consistent action on BIG Black Sea bass. The water temperature was 56 degrees. We only had about 3 hours to fish and put 64 keepers in the box along with about 2 dozen throwbacks and a few 5 pound bluefish. Great action, and our average was 3-4 pound fish with quite a few over 5 pounds and 2 breaking 6 pounds. The hot bait was a 12 ounce hammered diamond jig as it accounted for consistent 4 pound keeper fish. Fun day, but definitely a little windier and choppier then expected. Back at it again tomorrow.
