7/9 Report

Today was our first day getting offshore on Saltitude this year. Billfish were our primary target but we were ready for some tunas as well. We started on the 100 fathom line in between the South Poormans and Washington Canyon. We found the break that went from 76.5 to 78 degrees, but not much life. We worked up the edge and between 11:00am to noon we had some Marlin bites.

It started with a blue marlin bite on the right short rigger ballyhoo/PartySkirt but after two swings and misses he was gone. We worked the area hard and at 11:20 we got a white Marlin bite on the left short rigger ballyhoo/party hat and unfortunately another miss. Almost immediately after a white slammed the left flat baked ballyhoo and he was on. In the end of our turn another white came in on the left teaser but never switched. We got the release on the white and the was pretty much it for us for the day other then a small yellowfin. Slow fishing other then that hour of goodness…
