I slipped out this afternoon with a good friend of mine in search of striped bass out of Barnegat Inlet. The wind was blowing 10-15 out of the SW and the water temp was 60 degrees. There was a bit of a bite on the bunker schools for strippers over this past weekend and a few scattered reports since. We didn’t have much time so we decided to run South out of the inlet and look for birds and bunker. We didn’t come across much and tried on a few schools of bunker other boats were working down deep in 40′ of water but no bites. We ran back up since we were running out of time and tried throwing some top waters around the north jetty but no bites. The season is just beginning…
