12/7 Trade In Season Ender

Maureen and I went out for a quick morning trip on her ContenderĀ Trade In looking to catch a few striped bass on the troll. We had a beautiful morning and ran out during the sunrise. We started off with lines in close to the 3 mile line off of the OC Ferris wheel in 51.5 degree clean water. Not much action. We mosied south across a few typical lumps and areas that hold stripers but no marks. We gave it a shot in the same general area that we fished on Monday but overall lifeless. We moved back up and worked over some bait we marked but no bites so we made our way back home. Unfortunately we hit a stroke of bad luck and had the PowerHead go on the port engine. Game Over. Major bummer. Looks like that will be the season on theĀ Trade In.

12/4 Stripers

Slipped out today in the mid day hours on the Trade In. Weather was about as perfect as it can get this time of year. We started on the troll in front of Corson’s Inlet in 51.5 degree water, but the weed was terrible and we could not keep our trolling gear clean. We marked plenty of bunker so we snagged a few and started livelining and getting what we could in the livewell. We managed to go 1/2 here and broke the ice.

We made a little move a tad deeper and down the line. We trolled a little here since there were reports of a pick on the troll, but we were still struggling with the weeds. We have it an hour here livelining bunker and went 3/4 here on nice stripers in the upper 30 to lower 40 inch range and called it a day.
