4/23 – soooo close

Well today was a great day of fishing but bittersweet. We released 2/3 white marlin, 2/3 sails, and finally at the end of the day we had the blue marlin we needed pile on the teaser. We switched him to the 50 pitch with a select ballyhoo with a Party Skirt easily came tight and pulled the hook. AHHHHH! Bummer. We also had a nice box full of mahi so overall great day yet again here in Cat Island!

4/22 Report

Today we we had SE winds at about 15 knots. We released a blue marlin that piled on both teasers multiple times before finally eating a Fish Downsea Party Skirt with a medium ballyhoo on the long rigger. We also released a Sailfish, lost a white marlin and missed a white marlin. Also put a few gaffers in the box. Great fishing continues!

4/21 Quick Report

Today was one of those days. Couldn’t do much wrong. Only have time for a Quick Report. We hooked up 8 white marlin and 3 Sailfish today and ended up releasing 4 whites and 2 sails. Great fishing today, and with the winds remaking SE we are hoping the action continues!

4/20 Cat Island Report

Today started off perfect. Light winds out of the SE and sunshine. We put lines in and before 800 we released a Sailfish and a white and then got into the mahi. We picked at mahi throughout the rest of the morning and then found some small tunas on top near Columbus Point and got into a white marlin that stayed down but John got a clean release. We fired lines back out and WHAM hooked up to another white marlin that we got quickly for a release. We looked hard for the blue all day but only managed more mahi and a few small tunas.

Awesome day again here in Cat Island on Exile65!!!

4/19 Report

The wind went SE today here in Cat Island and after two days of not even seeing a mahi (never happened to me before in April in Cat Island) today it was all you wanted. I think we were hooked up more then we were trolling today. We kept some for fish tacos and let a bunch go all ranging from 12-30 pounds. We did also release a white marlin that came in HOT on the Fish DownSea 2.0 black dredge shads with black and purple dredge flares then peeled off on the flat line. Anxious to see what tomorrow shows us! Beautiful day on the water today!

Three Peat

We fished Monday-Wednesday in the White Marlin Smackdown here in Hawks Nest Marina in Cat Island Bahamas. We were looking to make it three in a row and we managed to pull off the three peat. Big thanks to the guys from “Wish You Were Here” for fishing the tournament with us. The first two days we saw great action on the Billfish and were able to capitalize. The last day was slow for everyone including us so we remained on top for the win. Thanks again Ed, Brett, Brian, Terry, and Peter. Definitely got a crazy double header that I’ll forever have burned on my memory. Lots of shuffling and musical rods in the pit on that one!

4/12 bottom bouncing

I was able to slip out with a few friends in Cat Island on the their tender and do some bottom fishing for grouper and snapper. We ended up catching a fair amount of grouper and 2 nice mutton snapper. Plenty of queen triggerfish in the mix. Good times and good eatin!
